Keys 'N Krates Bring The Midnite Mass Tour To Cat's Cradle

Keys N Krates have hit the road with the Midnite Mass tour in support of their latest EP.  The Triangle is fortunate to be one of their many stops with a visit in Carrboro at Cat's Cradle this Wednesday, January 27.

This three-piece group formed in 2008 in Toronto has evolved from a live hip-hop band into an intricate trio of producers and performers.  Keys N Krates fall under the umbrella of EDM, but labeling their sound isn't that simple. They are comprised of Jr. Flo on the turntables, keyboard player David Matisse, and Adam Tune on the drums.  On stage, they mesh electronic beats with live instruments, creating a unique sound and a captivating show.  Adding to the entertainment, it's not unusual for the members to mix it up and trade roles, keeping the performances fresh and energetic.

Keys N Krates are traveling with good company, being joined by Ganz and Hermitude for part of their tour.  Stooki Sound and Jesse Slayter will be getting the crowd started for the Cat's Cradle show, which starts at 8:30.  Tickets are $20-$22 and can be purchased at the Cat's Cradle website

Flux Pavilion Makes Way to the Queen City

The electronic music industry had an incredible year in 2015 and Charlotte is getting in on the action by hosting some of the biggest names in EDM in the coming weeks.  Perhaps best known for the track, "I Can't Stop," the Label in Charlotte will welcome Flux Pavilion for an unforgettable night on February 5.  Joined by a supporting cast of Charlotte based DJs, DOMii and Tronix, the British DJ and producer is definitely going to bring the bass to the Queen City.

As an artist, Joshua Steele, better known as Flux Pavilion has been able to accomplish a lot in a relatively short amount of time.  Whether he is producing chart topping tracks, performing at festivals around the world, or helping start a record label, Circus Records, Steele has found success with each opportunity.  It wasn't until 2015 however that Steele released his first full album, Tesla.  The album features several vocalists that make Tesla the perfect compliment to what has attracted so many to the talented Steele along the way.

With the release of several unique remixes on Friday, January 22, check out one of the signature tracks from the Tesla album, "Emotional" which features Matthew Koma on vocals. Tickets for this special event are still available and only $20 and the start time is set for 10pm.

Warm Up With Smooth Hound Smith at The Pour House

Warm up this Tuesday with Nashville's Smooth Hound Smith at The Pour House. This boot-stompin' American roots duo will be supported by You Can Call Me John for a cool $7-$10.  Smooth Hound just released their second full-length album, Sweet Tennessee Honey and Raleigh is fortunate enough to be the first stop on their tour.

Caitlin Doyle and Zack Smith met in LA and established Smooth Hound Smith in 2012.  After releasing their self-titled debut album in 2013, they've since settled in Nashville, but have spent most of their time touring or recording. They were
chosen from thousands of bands to perform at the 2015 Bonnaroo Festival.

Zack started out as a one man band, but he quickly realized how much Caitlin added to the music, "She has such a rare and valuable skill set; she conceptualized a great deal of the harmonies, and we did the arrangements together."

Smooth Hound Smith is one of those bands that's difficult to describe due to their wide array of sounds.  The softer songs from their first album, such as "Crazy Over You" and "California Sway" carry a  romantic rhythm supported by the gentle picking of the guitar matched with lyric-driven harmonies.  In the more bluesy-rock songs, "30 Days" and "Blue Dress," the foot percussion, harmonica, and grungy guitar induce instant dancing. They will share some of their latest tunes from Sweet Tennessee Honey at the show tonight starting at 9, don't miss the fun!
